ON THIS EPISODE’S MASTERMIND HOT SEAT: JODI BRANDON
ABOUT JODI BRANDON: Jodi Brandon is a 20-year veteran of the publishing industry, and I’m bringing my knowledge of it to the online business world. My passion is helping creative business owners, bloggers, and solopreneurs speak the language of publishing, either through a traditional publisher or via self-publishing. When she’s not diagramming sentences or working with clients, you can find her on the deck reading a new release on her Kindle, traveling with her husband or girlfriends, volunteering in her community, or finding new ways of being the world’s #1 aunt.

HERE’S WHAT JODI HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE MASTERMIND EXPERIENCE + PROGRESS SINCE BEING IN THE HOT SEAT:
Hey, Kickass Mastermind friends. It’s Jodi Brandon here of Jodi Brandon Editorial, and I am just checking in post-hot seat to say thank you to Sara for having me on the show. Also, to Sara and Brayden, and Katie, thank you so much for your insight and your advice and your great ideas. It’s amazing, isn’t it, what a little bit of outside perspective and a fresh perspective can do for your business?
I loved being in the hot seat, and I loved helping other people when it was their time. The collaboration of the Mastermind Show is awesome. I loved it. Thank you again, Sara, so much.
So, what did I do with my hot seat with what we talked about? I’m happy to report I have thankfully taken action. When I saw everybody nodding their heads at the same time, I thought, “Oh, okay. We’re definitely on to something.” And then when I went back and listened to the recording of the show, and I couldn’t believe how much great information there was, even more than I had thought when it was actually happening.
I’m happy that I was present at that moment, but then I’m happy I got the opportunity to go back and think, “Whoa, there’s so much more here.”
What I did was test the idea with some of my former book coaching clients who I know would have been candidates for my half-day intensive that I’m thinking about. They sort of helped me tweak the idea a little bit and they are in agreement, though, that a book writing/book planning half-day intensive early on in the process is an awesome idea, one-on-one they would prefer. Then a group activity like a webinar or a master class or something like that, that we had talked about in the Mastermind, maybe quarterly, every few months, something like that would work for the publishing and marketing aspects of book writing and publishing.
You guys [Sara, Braden, and Katie] were totally on the right track even though you’re not part of the book publishing world, which is awesome. So, I’m super, super excited.
I have a beta test coming up in a couple of weeks with a book editing client for later this year. We’re going to test out the agenda, which I have worked up. If all goes well, then we’re going to launch this new service in March, which is super exciting!
So, I’ve started on the sales page for the masterclass/webinar. I’m still sort of tossing around the format that’s going to take to do that every couple of months, but I did start the sales page language. I am off and running and I am super, super grateful. So, thank you, guys.
Check me out. I am Jodi Brandon Editorial, that’s my website, that’s where I am on Facebook, on Instagram, on LinkedIn, on Pinterest, on all the places. And if you need help writing a book, check out my book. I literally wrote the book on self-publishing, Write, Publish, Market.
